Highlights from CANCHAM Chocolate Day Member Forum 2024

The Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce (CANCHAM) held its annual member forum to commemorate the National Chocolate Day on February 14th at the African Regent Hotel. As always, Associate members and Council discussed and agreed on the strategies and activities for the year 2024. Mr. Alexander Nortey, the President of the Chamber, in his opening remarks emphasized the importance of delivering quality products and services to clients. He urged members to prioritize digitalization and innovation as a platform for growth. Some of the new initiatives that the Associate members agreed on included, the organization of sector meetings where, peculiar challenges emanating from government regulations and polices that affects their businesses are discussed and some resolutions made to curb the negative impact. As part of the new initiative, the secretariat will invite industry leaders to share their experiences at Chamber events to inspire and motivate the SMEs within the Chamber. At this year’s forum we introduced a new session, “Time with TCS” where Associate members had the opportunity to understand the role of the Trade Commissioner Service Team of the Canadian High Commission and how Chamber members can take advantage of the TCS to improve their businesses. Representing the TCS team, Mr. Peter Fiamor suggested that forging partnerships with Canadian companies could be more advantageous than seeking investment from Canada. He emphasized the TCS’s willingness to support in facilitating such collaborations. Mrs. Edwina Atta-Sonno, Executive Secretary of the Chamber, urged members to actively participate in Chamber events. She encouraged members to register for upcoming events and also take advantage of the networking platforms that comes with it.
