Construction Sector Meeting Hosted by CANCHAM – Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce

Construction Sector Meeting Hosted by CANCHAM

On April 4th, the inaugural sector meeting for the construction companies was convened at the secretariat of the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce. The primary objective of this meeting was to deliberate on pertinent issues and policies impacting the construction sector. Among the esteemed attendees were Mr. Samuel Amegayibor, Executive Secretary of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), representatives from Adom City Estates, Landsar Developers Limited, Silver Star Tower Limited, and Wemaintain Properties Limited. Mr. Samuel Amegayibor addressing the members gave insights into some challenges facing the real estate industry. Some of the issues he mentioned were low quality housing supply, limited local development capacity, regulatory inadequacies, and the high interest rate on loans coupled with restricted access to financing. Amidst these challenges, Mr. Amegayibor also shed light on potential opportunities for members in industry to capitalize on. These opportunities included the national housing deficit which is currently in excess of 1.8 million, and fostering partnerships with fellow GREDA members.
