FREIGHT FORWARDERS AND LOGISTICS SECTOR MEETING

The Freight Forwarding and Logistics companies within the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce (CANCHAM) recently convened for a meeting at the secretariat. The primary focus of this meeting was to understand the role of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF) to their business, identify the challenges facing the industry, and explore potential solutions to these challenges. Attendees included representatives from prominent companies such as Consolidated Shipping Agencies Limited, Ansahdys Shipping Logistics Company Limited, M&G Logistics and Supply Chain Company Limited, Mcdan Shipping Company Limited, and First Oceans Plus Shipping & Logistics. The resource person for the meeting was Mr. Stephen T. Adjokatcher, President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF). During his address, Mr. Adjokatcher highlighted significant challenges impacting the industry, such as the delays in port clearance of goods, high costs of demurrages and port rent, and the intrusion of foreign entities into the market. Mr. Adjokatcher informed members that GIFF is actively engaging in discussions with various stakeholders to develop effective strategies to address these challenges. He urged all GIFF members to support the executives in these efforts, emphasizing the importance of unity in achieving results that will benefit the industry.
