On February 7, 2025, at the Fiesta Royale Hotel, the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana (CCIFG) hosted the CEO’s Breakfast Meeting under the theme “Corporate Social Responsibility: Strategic Value and Impact Creation.” The event explored CSR’s evolution from philanthropy into a strategic tool for socio-economic progress and sustainability.

Her Excellency Myriam Montrat, High Commissioner of Canada to Ghana, enlightened us with examples of Canada’s initiatives to support underprivileged communities in Ghana. A highlight was Canada’s ‘SURGE’ Project, a Green economy initiative which has supported over 95 entrepreneurs, generating GHS 8 million in revenue and creating 1,015 jobs since 2021. Jean-Noël Blanc, Head of the Economic Department at the French Embassy, highlighted how France-Ghana partnerships continue to drive development through impact-driven initiatives. Professor Daniel Frimpong Ofori’s keynote, "Of Angels and Demons," challenged businesses to assess their ethical impact, questioning whether they are truly creating shared value or simply offsetting harm.

KIC, led by Executive Director Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, showcased CSR’s potential, highlighting their youth entrepreneurship and agribusiness initiatives, which have trained over 32,500 young people and incubated 59 startups. The Q&A session sparked conversations on measuring CSR impact, fostering long-term innovation, and embedding sustainability into corporate strategies.

How is your organization integrating sustainability into its business model? Let’s keep the conversation going.
